Bio/Anne
Katrine Senstad She
has exhibited widely internationally, including the Architectural
Museum in Sao Paulo, Transientnyc and Snyder Fine Art in New York,
and Galleri JMS in Oslo, Norway, her first major solo show, 2002. In
1997 Senstad started working with the notion of light and color. She
sought through her photography, to investigate and translate to a
visual experience - in essence, sensations of the elements, such as
light, color and sound. In photographing pure light sources and their environmental
behavioral patterns, she arrests light movement and effect upon spaces.
The pure light-scapes she creates, manifests as circular expansive
shapes within the perfect square, or in elongated panels of light
and color. The series, “Essence of Light and Color” navigates
through a monumental pureness and mass of colors, while the series,
“ Light and Sound Panels” orchestrates a horizontal landscape
of light and sound patterns. She
has since 1996 received grants from the Norwegian Council for cultural
affairs and The Norwegian Photography Foundation for the arts. Included
are full year artist scholarship and various project grants. In 2000
Norwegian broadcasting corp. made a 35 min portrait documentary on
Senstad as a Norwegian artist and photographer living in New York.
The film was aired in 8 European countries, and viewed as an important
informative document for young aspirering Scandinavian artists and
photographers. Senstad's work appears in private, corporate and gallery collections such as Snyder Fine Art, New York, The Polaroid collection, MA,The Royal Norwegian Consulate, New York and Stichting Noorderlicht, The Netherlands. Anne Katrine Senstad has since 1997 also worked with portraiture for various clients and media in New York and Oslo. Please contact anne@senstad.com for further info.
